Revita is a new breed that was specifically developed to increase resistance to curl disease and other fungal diseases. This new variety is also considered to be very robust and cold-resistant.
What characterizes the Revita peach variety?
The Revita peach is a robust new breed with high resistance to curl disease and other fungal diseases. This variety remains short in stature (2-3 meters) and is robust against cold and frost. The fruits ripen late (mid to late August) and are good for preserving.
Revita is quite short
In contrast to other peach varieties such as Benedicte, Revita remains comparatively small with an average height of around two to three meters and is therefore also suitable for smaller gardens. This variety is also considered to be particularly resilient. Revita not only defies curling disease, but also wind and weather - and without any significant losses. Even frost can't do much harm to the little peach tree.
Characteristics of curl disease
- Leaves throw greenish to red bubbles
- Leaves curl
- some of the shoot tips also curl
- As the tree progresses, it sheds affected leaves
- sometimes branches die
- Illness cannot be treated, only prevented
- Revita is considered resistant, but can still be attacked
Fruits ripen comparatively late
Peaches of the Revita variety are greenish-yellow in color and have strong orange-red marbling on the sunny side. The creamy white flesh tastes sweet, but with a subtle acidic note. The shell is quite thin. The fruits ripen between mid to late August. The tree blooms mid-early and offers a striking sight with its beautiful dark pink flowers. The yield is – compared to other peach varieties – very high.
Revita are ideal for preserving
Revita is perfect for preserving, for example jam, compote, fruit puree, juice, ice cream or cake. Of course, you can also eat the fruits fresh from the tree, but they disappoint - also in comparison to more aromatic varieties such as. B. Benedicte – in this case in terms of taste. However, they add a fantastic peach flavor to desserts, cakes and jams. In addition, Revita allows peaches to be grown even in suboptimal locations.
Choosing the ideal location
- as sunny and protected as possible
- Protection from rain and soil moisture
- Revita fits well under a canopy
- Soil is loose and rich in humus
Tips & Tricks
For the best possible harvest, you should water your tree more in the last few weeks before harvest and also apply compost again. But be careful: don't overdo it with watering, as this can dilute the taste of the peaches.
