The extremely decorative crown of fame likes to spend the summer outside in the garden. However, she doesn't particularly like temperature changes. It therefore thrives better in the winter garden than in a changeable climate. In autumn the plant dries up and overwinters only as a tuber.
How do I properly overwinter a crown of glory?
To overwinter the crown of glory successfully, place it in a cool, dark place at temperatures between 15°C and 17°C without watering or fertilizing. Leave them in their original pot or store them in sand and avoid large temperature fluctuations.
If the plant dies after flowering, it can be placed in its usual pot or in a box with sand in a cool, dark place. In winter it is neither watered nor fertilized. You begin your usual care in spring when the plant sprouts. After the Ice Saints, you can plant the Crown of Fame outside.
The most important things in brief:
- overwinter cool and dark
- ideal temperature: between 15 °C and 17 °C
- neither water nor fertilize
- leave in original pot or store in sand
Tip
Make sure that there are no major temperature fluctuations in the winter quarters for your crown of glory, this plant can hardly survive that.
