Hydrangea hedges enchant the garden with their abundance of flowers. Both farmer's hydrangeas and panicle hydrangeas are well suited for this form of garden design. When planting the hedge, pay attention to the planting distance so that the hydrangea bushes can develop sufficiently.
What planting distance should be maintained for hydrangeas?
The planting distance for farmer's hydrangeas should be at least 50 centimeters, while panicle hydrangeas need a distance of at least 100 centimeters. A distance of 80 centimeters should be maintained from other shrubs and perennials.
These distances between the plants must be maintained
For farmer's hydrangeas whose growth height is between one and two meters, the individual planting holes must be dug at a minimum distance of fifty centimeters. Panicle hydrangeas grow up to two meters high and therefore require a greater distance from the neighboring plants. The planting distance should not be less than one hundred centimeters.
Distance to other garden plants
So that the hydrangea does not put too much pressure on neighboring plants, you should maintain a planting distance of eighty centimeters from shrubs and perennials. Please also note the minimum distance to the property line required by state regulations.
