Their buds are reminiscent of small, bright lanterns, their flowers are more like bells. Their names fit the plant perfectly: balloon flower or Chinese bellflower. Very decorative and a little sophisticated, they decorate many flower gardens.
How do I plant balloon flowers correctly?
To plant balloon flowers successfully, choose a sunny to partially shaded location, prepare a deep planting hole with permeable, nutrient-rich soil, add fertilizer or compost and water the plant well.
The ideal location
Before planting, think carefully about the location of the balloon flower because it doesn't like being transplanted. This is due, among other things, to their deep taproots. The balloon flower prefers sunny to partially shaded areas, protected from cold winds and heavy rain. Give it enough space, because over the years it will grow a little wider.
The best soil
Unlike many other garden plants, the soil for the balloon flower can be a little calcareous, but it should definitely contain plenty of nutrients.
