How can you control hop clover in the lawn?
To combat hop clover in the lawn, areas can be darkened, hot water used or plants can be cut out. As a preventative measure, the lawn should be sufficiently fertilized and not cut too short. Vinegar and s alt can also help, but are also harmful to the lawn.
Which type of clover has spread?
Fighting clover in the lawn is not easy. Above all, you need to know what type of clover it is. You can recognize hop clover by its yellow flowers and leaves, which look nothing like those of white clover.
In contrast to other types of clover, which you can simply pull up or destroy by scarifying, this is not so easy with hop clover. But there is no reason to resort to chemicals straight away. Hop clover can be combated with a few home remedies as long as it hasn't spread too much:

Destroy hop clover with darkness or hot water
Hop clover needs light. Shade the locations for a few days and the pesky clover will die. To do this, stretch a tarpaulin over the affected piece of lawn. The grass initially suffers from this, but recovers very quickly.
The hop clover also doesn't get too hot. Boil water and pour it over the lawn weeds as hot as possible. After a short time it disappeared.
Cutting out hop clover – laborious but effective
You can get good results if you cut out the hop clover. However, you have to make sure that you hit all the roots, otherwise the plant will sprout again.
Loose the soil with a stick and pull out the clover. If there are any cracks in the roots, you need to dig further.
Effectively prevent hop clover in the lawn
It is best to prevent hop clover infestation. It mainly occurs when the soil does not contain enough nutrients. Fertilize the lawn with horn shavings. This fertilizer contains a lot of nitrogen and effectively prevents horn clover from germinating.
Don't cut the grass too short. If the hop clover doesn't get enough light, it can't spread.
Tip
Hop clover doesn't like vinegar and s alt either. When using it to combat hop clover, you should keep in mind that these substances are also harmful to the lawn and small organisms.
