The 'Rose de Resht', which originally comes from Persia, is one of the historic roses and has enjoyed unbroken popularity for over 100 years. This very robust variety blooms tirelessly between the end of May and September, developing a veritable sea of fuchsia-colored, heavily double flowers. These also exude an extremely intense scent. The vigorous 'Rose de Resht' can be easily cultivated in a pot.

How do I care for a 'Rose de Resht' in a pot?

To cultivate the 'Rose de Resht' in a pot, you need a clay or ceramic pot with a drainage hole that is at least 50 cm high. Use high-quality rose soil, good drainage, regular watering and organic-mineral rose fertilizer. Protect the roots from frost in winter.

Roses need a big container

So that your 'Rose de Resht' feels comfortable in its pot, you should choose a sufficiently large and, above all, high planter. Roses are deep-rooted, i.e. H. they develop a very deep taproot. Of course, this must have space at the bottom, which is why the ideal pot for the 'Rose de Resht' should be at least 50 centimeters high. In addition to the size, the right material is also important. If possible, choose a planter made of clay or ceramic (but not plastic - especially not black plastic!) so that the roots cannot heat up on hot summer days.

Essential: High-quality substrate and good drainage

The bucket should also have a drainage hole at the bottom so that excess irrigation water can drain away. Like all roses, the 'Rose de Resht' is very sensitive to waterlogging, so good drainage in the pot is essential. For this purpose, you should cover the bottom of the pot with shards of pottery or something similar so that the drainage hole does not become muddy and therefore clogged. The planting substrate can also be loosened up with clay granules, and adding coarse sand also works well. In general, you shouldn't skimp on the substrate: your 'Rose de Resht' will still feel most comfortable in a good rose soil.

Take care of container roses properly

The 'Rose de Resht' is quite undemanding when it comes to care, although specimens cultivated in pots naturally require more attention than those planted out. Always water the rose when the substrate has dried on the surface, but do not let the root ball dry out. Also fertilize your 'Rose de Resht' regularly with a good, organic-mineral rose fertilizer (€32.00 on Amazon). Roses are heavy feeders and therefore require a lot of nutrients.

Tip

The 'Rose de Resht' is considered to be extremely hardy, but pot specimens should nevertheless be well packed - due to the small amount of substrate in the pot, the roots risk freezing quickly.
