As part of professional care, a Ritterstern has to change location repeatedly. We have summarized for you here where your amaryllis should be during its subtropical vegetation cycle.

Which location is suitable for amaryllis in different phases?
The ideal location for an amaryllis varies depending on the phase: During the flowering period, it should be in a bright, but not full sun, place at 18-22°C. During the growth phase, a sunny, warm outdoor location is suitable. And during the rest period the plant needs a dark, cool place at 5-9°C.
Multiple moves are mandatory
Immigrated from the subtropical regions of South America, the amaryllis, as a bulbous plant, places special demands on its respective location. A repeated move is inevitable, as the following overview shows:
- During the flowering period: Bright, not full sun location with temperatures between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius
- During the growth phase: Sunny, warm location on the balcony or in the summer garden
- At the time of rest: Dark and cool, with temperatures between a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9 degrees Celsius
Please avoid abrupt changes of location. This is especially true if your knight's star is given a place in the open air after flowering. To prevent the leaves from getting sunburned, harden the plant in partial shade for 8 to 10 days.
