Row ash, also known as rowan berries, is one of the undemanding deciduous trees. They are often grown in gardens for their red berries. The tree does not need much care. However, you should consider a few points when choosing the location.
Where should a rowan be planted?
For an optimal location for a mountain ash, choose a sunny to semi-shady place without waterlogging, take into account the space requirement of up to two meters wide and do not plant the tree directly next to walls or house walls to avoid heat damage.
Choosing the right location
- Sunny to partially shaded place
- No waterlogging
- Consider space requirements
- Do not plant next to walls
Protect from heat
A rowan tree needs light to thrive. It grows best in a sunny or at least partially shaded place.
However, rowan trees do not tolerate heat well. Therefore, do not plant the tree next to house walls or walls. These store the heat in summer and impair growth.
Mature rowan trees grow up to two meters wide. They form strong roots that can damage plants that are too close together.
Tips & Tricks
You should never plant rowan trees near sewer pipes because of their aggressive roots. Creating a root barrier prevents excessive spread.
