How do you properly care for a Cambria orchid?
The Cambria orchid needs thorough watering with lime-free water during the growth and flowering period. Fertilize with liquid orchid fertilizer every 4 weeks from April to September. Only cut dead plant parts with a disinfected scalpel and dust the cuts to prevent disease.
What should you consider when watering a cambria?
During the growth and flowering period, the water requirement of a Cambria orchid is at a higher level than during its resting period. You have two methods to choose from to supply the epiphytic plant with moisture. This is how it works:
- If the substrate is dry, water the orchid thoroughly with lime-free water
- Alternatively, immerse the pot in soft, room temperature water for a few minutes
- Then allow the excess water to drain off well before putting the culture pot back into the planter
Since the finger test does not always provide a reliable indication of the current water requirement, if in doubt, make a weight comparison. A pot with dry orchid soil is much lighter than if the substrate is moist.
When and how is fertilization on the care plan?
In the period from April to September, please fertilize a Cambria orchid every 4 weeks. Use a liquid orchid fertilizer that you add to the watering or dipping water. From October to March you can either stop the nutrient supply completely or fertilize at half the concentration every 8 weeks. Do not give orchids normal flower fertilizer as this is unsuitable for tropical rainforest flowers.
What can I cut and what not?
Green parts of the plant are generally spared from being cut. The scissors are only used when a leaf or flower stem has completely died. Ideally, you should use a disinfected scalpel to make the smoothest possible cut. Finally, dust the cuts with cinnamon powder or primary rock powder to prevent diseases and pests.

A Cambria orchid loves to spend time outside in the summer to enjoy fresh air and gentle sunshine. From mid-May, the orchid likes to take a place on the balcony in a bright, protected location that cannot come under direct midday sun. The summer temperature fluctuations between day and night make a valuable contribution to flower induction.
