The single leaf (Spathiphyllum) is actually a pretty uncomplicated houseplant. Provided it is not in the blazing sun and is watered and fertilized regularly, the plant with large, dark green leaves and white to cream-colored flowers grows very quickly. Spathiphyllum is very picky in only one thing: the right location is therefore often not so easy to find.
Why does my single leaf have green flowers?
If a single leaf develops green flowers, the most common reason is lack of light. To promote white flowers, the plant should be moved to a bright but indirectly sunny location and watered and fertilized regularly.
Spathiphyllum is right in terms of location
As a typical rainforest plant, the single leaf loves light partial shade and often thrives in shady locations. However, the plant often refuses to flower if it is too dark or does not like the location for other reasons. Especially when there is a lack of light, the plant develops green instead of white flowers, which are only visible at second glance against the foliage of the same color. A change of location can therefore work wonders, with the single leaf feeling most comfortable in a bright but not directly sunny place.
Tip
You should also not place it too close to a wall or heater - the plant does not like dry air. For this reason, regular spraying with water (not the flowers!) is important.
