If you plant your loggia, you can bring spring, summer and autumn onto your balcony and enjoy the seasons in the countryside from home. Below you will find out which plants are suitable for which loggia and how you can plant them to save space.
Which plants are suitable for a loggia?
Loggia plants should be tailored to the lighting conditions: shade-loving plants such as begonias or busy lilies for shady loggias, almost all balcony plants for partial shade loggias, and sun-loving plants such as geraniums or Cape baskets for sunny loggias.
Think to save space
Loggias are often not particularly large. But even on small balconies you don't have to go without numerous blooming beauties. Here are a few ideas on how to plant to save space:
- Balcony boxes on the railing
- attach individual flower pots to the wall with nails or screws
- Plant side walls with climbing plants
- Hanging hanging baskets from the ceiling
- plant vertically with Euro pallets
- Filling stepladders with plants
- Vertical green walls e.g. made from plant bags (€16.00 on Amazon)
What should you pay attention to when planting and caring for plants on the loggia
The location requirements of plants differ and must be strictly observed. If you plant a sun-requiring plant on a shady balcony, you will hardly enjoy it. You should also make sure to have sufficiently large planters and suitable saucers to protect the soil from moisture. The coasters must be emptied after heavy rain.
