A flower bed can have many shapes: For example, if it is to be in the middle of a lawn, round is a good choice in many cases. How do I create a round flower bed?
Create a round flower bed: Mark the desired spot, remove the lawn, dig up the area and apply weed fleece or mulch. Fill with topsoil, set a bed border and plant suitable perennials, shrubs and flowers according to the site conditions.
Location
First of all: A round bed belongs somewhere in the middle of a larger area such as a lawn and should not be chosen as a border plant. For the edge - for example on a wall or a fence - it is better to choose other shapes such as a half or quarter circle. The latter – the so-called piece of cake – cuts an elegant figure, especially in corners. Circular beds, on the other hand, don't really come into their own at the edge; they have to have enough space around them and be visible from all sides.
Plant selection
The choice of plants should be based primarily on the location, so that you select the perennials to suit the light and soil conditions. Depending on the size of the bed, you can also plan the plants so that the island looks attractive at any time of the year. With regard to the grouping of perennials and shrubs, large perennials, ornamental shrubs and small trees should be planted in the middle, while the height of the plants decreases as they get closer to the edge of the bed. Place ornamental grasses, ground cover plants, evergreen plants, bulbous flowers and one- to two-year-old summer flowers between perennial flowering plants. This variety loosens up the overall picture, but should not be exaggerated in terms of the number of different species: in small beds three to five different species are sufficient, in large beds there can be eight to ten.
Creating a round flower bed – this is how it works
If you are creating the round flower bed in the middle of a lawn, you must first remove the sod from the intended location.

- Dig the area well and remove roots and stones.
