How do you grow privet yourself?
To grow privet yourself, there are three methods: cutting cuttings (use shoots that are at least 20 cm long), planting cuttings (use woody shoots) and lowering shoots (slightly score long shoots and cover them with soil). Patience and regular cutting are important for successful growth.
Methods for growing privet yourself
You don't need a green thumb or specialist knowledge to grow privet yourself. The shrub is so easy to propagate that even as a beginner you will hardly have any problems with it. You just need to be patient. There is a sufficient amount of leftover cuttings that you can use as cuttings or cuttings when cutting back.
There are three methods to grow privet yourself:

Propagation from seeds is of course also theoretically possible. However, this requires a lot of patience and is much more complex than other methods.
Grow privet from cuttings yourself
Privet cuttings root very quickly. Use shoots at least 20 cm long. Shorten the top and remove the lower leaves.
Now all you have to do is put the cuttings (€9.00 on Amazon) in prepared pots or in the desired location. Don't forget to water the cuttings well. You can tell that the rooting was successful by the new leaves and shoots.
Propagate privet from cuttings
If you prune a privet heavily, you will end up with a lot of cuttings. They are already woody at the bottom.
Cut the top of these shoots and then put them in the intended place. Water sufficiently.
Privet lowerer
To lower, use long shoots that you can bend to the ground. Score them lightly and cover the scratches with soil. The tip of the shoot must still be visible above the ground.
If new shoots appear at the tips, you can cut off the offshoot, carefully dig it up and transplant it to the desired location.
Tip
The only care measure that you should not neglect with privet, especially at the beginning, is cutting. Privet is initially cut up to three times a year, and later twice more. Only then will you get a compact shrub or a dense hedge.
