What ideas are there for designing a water garden?
There are various design options available for a water garden, such as a garden pond (classic, natural pond or Newage pond), a stream or water basins in different shapes and materials. This goes well with varied planting and decorative elements such as fountains and footbridges.
From the pond to the soda fountain
If you want to bring the element of water into your garden not only as a practical matter, but also as an aesthetic design element, you have a lot of options. When you think of the word water garden, the first thing that comes to mind is the classic garden pond. But there are many other creative ideas for creating a relaxing haven in your private oasis. Possible options would be, for example:

Garden pond
The garden pond is not only the classic water design, but is also a valuable source of biodiversity and balance in the garden. It offers a habitat for numerous plants and insects and thus expands the housing and food supply for the entire garden fauna. Visually, the strength of a pond is of course the calm water surface, which invites you to unwind.
Natural pond
There are of course no limits to the stylistic design of your garden pond. If you like things close to nature and value a living biotope, we recommend a round to ovate shape and water and bank plants with native flora. Flower rushes, loosestrife and water lilies are suitable here. A small wooden walkway is a nice addition and an opportunity to get close to the water action.
Accurately designed Newage pond
If you prefer your garden pond to be neatly maintained, composed and made a little more chic, you can also choose an angular shape and frame the pond completely in teak planks or stone walls. When it comes to planting, more exotic and extravagant species add a touch of elegance: the Japanese sedge and the hanging spar, for example, are ideas for an accurate, Far Eastern pond design.

By changing widths and different bank design sections with stones and plants, you get a lively variation in the overall picture of the watercourse.
Water basin
Smaller water basins are ideal for gardens, front gardens and balconies with limited space, which can have an equally effective appeal thanks to an adapted miniature design. Unusual containers can play a particularly effective role here: an old zinc tub or a disused wooden tub, for example, are ideas for characterful and handy water points in a limited space. Appropriately finely structured aquatic plants such as the corkscrew rush, the water star or the sea jug create a delightful mini pond spectacle.
