The delicate flower Märzenbecher grows wild in the wild, but is one of the endangered species in this country. That's why it's nice if a place is cleared in your own garden for this white early bloomer. But which location should it be? Does the Märzenbecher prefer shade or sun?
Which location is ideal for Märzenbecher?
Märzenbecher prefer a location in partial shade or shade, ideally as an underplant in the garden. They thrive particularly well in moist, fresh, slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil. The proximity to a garden pond is ideal.
Preferred location in nature
The Märzenbecher originally grew in the middle of forests or on the edge of the forest. It was particularly common in forest areas along streams and rivers, so-called floodplain forests. In such a forest he found protection from direct sun and got plenty of moisture. Unfortunately, it is being pushed back further and further in the wild.
Note:If you find the Märzenbecher growing wild, you can only admire it. It is not allowed to dig it up and plant it at home. It is under nature protection. Onions are sold commercially in autumn for the home garden.
Ideal location in cultural gardens
The Märzenbecher took his location preferences with him to the cultural garden:
- Part shade or shade is ideal
- It is therefore well suited as an underplanting
- the soil should be moist and fresh
- slightly acidic to slightly alkaline
- a nearby garden pond is ideal
Tip
It is better to avoid this flower when small children are playing in the garden. Märzenbecher is poisonous, in all its parts.
