How do I care for Java moss in the aquarium?
Java moss is an attractive and easy-care plant for aquariums. It offers hiding places for small aquatic creatures, grows at 20-30°C and requires medium to high brightness. Attach the moss to the ground, objects or let it float freely.
Beautiful and useful
The Java moss looks great with its green, dense shoots. But at the same time it is also practical if there are small aquatic creatures in the aquarium. Shrimp and little fish like to hide in the fine branches or find their food in them.
Due to its low growth height of max. 20 cm, the Java moss is ideal for foreground planting together with the Java fern. The green carpets are also popular in aquascaping.
Buy and multiply
The first Java moss is either a purchase or a gift. Once there is a specimen in the aquarium, reproduction is soon possible. To do this, a piece of the formed moss carpet is separated and planted somewhere else.
Ideal living conditions
The Java moss does not have high demands on the water, which is why the ideal values are almost always achieved on its own. The pH value does not play a significant role for him, only the temperature should be taken into account. It is in the range of 20 to 30 °C, which is not difficult to achieve.
The second factor that ensures good growth is brightness. This moss can be sunny to partially shaded. The brighter it is, the faster it grows. Therefore, targeted lighting is recommended.

Java moss can be used in many ways as a design element in the aquarium because it can grow on the bottom of the tank or on objects or even float in the water.

Care
