When should you plant ice begonias?

Where should you plant ice begonias?

Basically, ice begonias can be plantedin almost any location: The crooked leaf plant even feels comfortable in the shade. However, the evergreen perennial - with the Latin name Begonia semperflorens because of its months-long flowering period - needs as much light as possible to produce a lush flower bloom. The flowers also feel comfortable in full sun, as long as thesoil is rather acidic and slightly moist.

How to plant ice begonias in the garden?

Plant the ice begonias inloose and humus-rich soil, which does not have to be particularly nutrient-rich - the begonia does not have a high nutrient requirement. However, thesoil must be well-drained, as the flowers - like so many plants - cannot tolerate waterlogging. Therefore, good preparation in the bed is important; soil that is too heavy should also be loosened up and provided withDrainage. When planting, you can also mix somecompost and sand with the excavation. Further fertilization is usually not necessary.

What planting distance should you keep?

Ice begonias should ideally be planted at a distance of approx.20 centimeters from one another. If possible, combine them with plants that have similar needs in terms of location and care. Lilies or verbena are well suited.
