When the leaves of a plum tree change, it may indicate diseases or pests such as marsupial gall mites, spider moths, small plum aphids or mealy plum aphids. Infections can be prevented through regular pruning and removal of affected parts.
Various causes visible on the leaf
There are no effective antidotes against most diseases and pests. You can fight pests effectively with natural predators. In the event of infections, it is recommended to remove affected fruits, leaves and twigs immediately.
- Pouch gall mite: swellings (galls) of the leaves, mainly on the edges
- Web moths: eat away the foliage from April onwards, in individual cases leaf damage is possible
- Small plum louse: leaves become wrinkled and curled.
- Mealy plum aphid: yellow leaves fall off, black fungi on fruit and foliage
