How can I lay a pond liner without wrinkles?
In order to lay a pond liner without wrinkles, you should have enough helpers, unroll the liner correctly and attach it to a pond fleece, align small folds in the pond and weigh down the liner with water and gravel after laying to ensure optimal adaptation to reach the underground.
Important when laying pond liners
Especially if you are laying PVC films, you need to be particularly careful when laying them. EPDM foils are a little more problem-free because they are a little more stable and resilient overall.
You should pay particular attention to the following points when laying PVC films:

- If possible, always lay the film on a bed of sand
- insert a pond fleece underneath the foil, this will provide additional protection to the foil
The most important thing is that you manage to lay the filmwrinkle-free. It must nestle against the surface and fit well there. In order to do this, a few things are necessary.
Sufficient helpers
Always organize enough helpers to lay the film. Someone should definitely lend a hand – the more, the better. For larger films over 50 m² you will definitely need 2 - 3 helpers.
Unroll the film correctly
When films are delivered, they should normally be fanned on one side and rolled on the other side. So you can place the film on a corner of the pond and unfold it directly into the pond.
Attach pond fleece
Once you have laid the pond fleece, you should attach it to the edges of the pond. Otherwise it can slip under the film and form wrinkles, which in turn lead to wrinkles in the film. However, only use fasteners that do not damage the film when placed over it.
Tighten small wrinkles
If wrinkles do form, smooth out smaller wrinkles towards the corners of the pond so that a single, large fold forms there. You can then fold these back and glue them if you want.

After laying, you should fill the pond about a third full. Place a layer of gravel on terraces in the pond. Leave the pond like this for at least a day, this will press the film into the ground better. Only then do you fill the pond completely.
Tip
Make sure that you wear suitable footwear (€13.00 on Amazon) - it should definitely have rounded sole profiles and no stones should be able to get stuck in it, otherwise you could damage the film. If in doubt, it is best to work barefoot.
