Some children can't slide fast enough, while others prefer it a little slower. If you know what your kids want before you build it, it's easy to customize the slide accordingly.
How can I make a slide slower?
To make a slide slower, you can use anti-slip clothing, make the slide flatter, or roughen the slide surface. Make sure that modifications to the slide are reversible if the children later want to slide faster.
In this case, simply design the slide so that it is flatter. The easiest way to achieve this is to make the frame for the slide a little lower. An alternative would also be to raise the end of the slide a little. However, you should make sure that the “exit” from the slide is not too high and that your children do not fall down.
Can I make a finished slide slower?
Once you have finished building your slide and then realize that it is much too fast for your children, it will be difficult to make a change. If the children are still quite small, then slow sliding may only be necessary for a relatively short period of time. A possible option would then be to choose non-slip clothing or trousers. Just give it a try.
If non-slip clothing is not an option for you, then consider converting the slide. If you can make the sliding surface flatter, you will lose a lot of speed. To do this, you would either have to lower the starting point of the slide or move the end slightly higher. But that requires a little manual skill.
Another option is to roughen the sliding surface. This also makes the slide slower. However, this measure is not easy to reverse if your children want to slide faster again later. This also applies to converting to a flatter slide.
Slow down a slide (temporarily) step by step:
- Is the problem short-term or long-term?
- helpful in the short term: non-slip clothing, e.g. B. Jeans (€16.00 at Amazon) instead of leggings
- long-term solutions: roughen the slide or make it flatter
Tip
Before you change anything on the slide, let your children slide with different clothes/different pants. Maybe this will sort of solve the problem.
