If you have powdery mildew on chard, you should first usehome remedies such as milk for spraying. Use whole, raw or buttermilk for this. UHT milk is not suitable because it no longer contains lactic acid bacteria. Mix the milk with water in a ratio of 1:8 and spray the plants with it. Alternatively, you can use a mixture of baking soda, rapeseed oil and water as a spray solution. Spray the solution on your plants at least weekly and after every rain. Remove the affected parts of the plant beforehand.
What helps against downy mildew on chard?
When infested with downy mildew, the first thing to do is to removeall affected parts of the plant A garlic broth can then be used as a spray against the fungal infestation. Plant tonics such as field horsetail tea can also be used to control the fungal disease. The best way to prevent downy mildew on chard is to space plants generously. If several plants in your garden are infected, thin out your chard.
