How do you plant flowers correctly?

Planting flowers correctly: Create a planting plan, pay attention to the location and planting distances, loosen the soil, place the plants in the planting hole, fill it with soil, press the soil lightly and water the plants then sufficiently. Avoid waterlogging and, if necessary, provide a drainage layer of gravel or sand.

Properly plant garden flowers

Before you get the flowers for a colorful perennial bed, you should create a planting plan. When choosing, consider the location and required planting distances.

When inserting, proceed as follows:

  1. Fill a tub with water and put the plants with the flower pot in it.
  2. Remove all weeds from the bed and loosen the soil.
  3. Distribute the flowers in the bed according to the planting plan.
  4. Dig a planting hole with a shovel (€4.00 on Amazon). This should be about a third larger than the container in which the plant was grown.
  5. Carefully pull the flower out of the planter. If this doesn't work, cut the pot open with scissors.
  6. Place the plant in the planting hole, fill with topsoil and press down carefully.
  7. Form a two centimeter deep pouring rim.
  8. Water thoroughly so that the soil around the roots is washed in.
  9. you should also use the watering can regularly in the next few days, because sufficient water will ensure that the plant grows in well.

However, make sure that no waterlogging occurs, as this leads to root rot. If the soil is heavy or heavily compacted, you should add an additional drainage layer:

  • The planting hole is dug a little deeper.
  • Now fill in a layer of gravel or sand.
  • Optionally, you can improve the permeability of the soil by mixing it with some gravel or sand.

Planting balcony flowers correctly

Give balcony flowers a sufficiently large planter, as the substrate can dry out very quickly on hot days if the volume is limited.

When inserting the plants, proceed as follows:

  1. If the water drainage holes have not yet been drilled out, open them.
  2. Place a pottery shard over the holes. This prevents soil from being washed out when watering.
  3. Fill in a drainage layer of expanded clay. This serves as a water reservoir and at the same time prevents waterlogging.
  4. Then add a layer of balcony plant substrate into the planter.
  5. Dip the flower pot into a bucket filled with water until no more bubbles appear. This makes it easier for the bale to come out of the pot.
  6. If this is not enough, please do not pull on the plant, but cut the container open with scissors.
  7. Place the flowers at least a hand's width apart. This allows them to develop optimally and the flowers will fall beautifully later.
  8. Fill with soil and press it down carefully. Form a two centimeter deep pouring rim.
  9. Water sufficiently.

Tip

Look for strong, lush green foliage and buds when purchasing. Also take a look under the leaves, because pests that can weaken the flower like to hide in this place.
