A cherry tree does not look as spectacular in autumn as it does in spring when it is in full bloom. Nevertheless, its foliage, which slowly turns a rich yellow or reddish brown, is an attractive sight.
What happens to the cherry tree in autumn and what care work is necessary?
In autumn, the leaves of the cherry tree initially turn yellow, then brownish or reddish before falling off. Important fall tasks include pruning and planting, soil preparation, watering, fertilizing and leaf composting.
The smooth, almond-shaped leaves of a cherry tree with jagged edges begin to turn yellow at the end of September/beginning of October, then brownish or reddish. Once the foliage is completely immersed in autumnal colors, the leaves begin to fall off. Important work is carried out in autumn, especially pruning and planting work, whereby the sweet cherries should be cut in the summer after the harvest, or in August at the latest.
September
