The similarity between Mediterranean coriander and Vietnamese coriander is uncanny. However, there is a difference in one fundamental point. While real coriander as an annual umbelliferous plant is not suitable for perennial cultivation, Vietnamese coriander as a knotweed plant offers aromatic herbal enjoyment for several years. This is how wintering works:
How do you overwinter Vietnamese coriander?
To overwinter Vietnamese coriander successfully, place the plant on a sunny windowsill at 18-23 degrees Celsius. Reduce watering and fertilize organically every 2 months. Alternatively, overwinter them in a cool place at 5-10 degrees Celsius and cut them back to just one pair of leaves per shoot.
- If the thermometer falls below 10 degrees in autumn, put away the Vietnamese coriander
- place on a sunny windowsill at 18 to 23 degrees Celsius
- water gently and fertilize organically every 2 months
Tips & Tricks
The vitality of the Asian herb plant is significantly strengthened if it overwinters in a cool, dark place at 5-10 degrees Celsius. In this case, cut the coriander back to just one pair of leaves per shoot before storing it away. Water the plant only enough to prevent it from drying out. No fertilizer will be applied until next spring.
