Which location does the edelweiss prefer?
The edelweiss prefers bright, sunny places and barren, stony soil that is slightly alkaline and calcareous. The ideal planting for rock gardens cannot tolerate long-term drought or waterlogging.
Edelweiss loves the sun
Just not in one point, because the edelweiss needs a bright, sunny location - the sunnier, the better. For this reason, the mountain plant is not suitable for planting under trees, for example - it would die even in such shady locations.
Planting edelweiss in poor soil
It is all the easier for you when it comes to soil: Edelweiss, due to its origins, prefers barren soil that is as stony as possible. This should also be slightly alkaline, therefore containing lime. For this reason, the edelweiss is the perfect plant for a rock garden.
