When and how do you sow Good Henry in the garden?
The optimal sowing time for Guten Heinrich is from March to the end of May or from September to October. Sow the seeds thinly and press them lightly, as Guter Heinrich is a light germinator. Separate young plants as needed and plan a distance of 50 cm.

Prepare the bed
After you have found a sunny or semi-shady location for Good Heinrich, you should prepare the bed for sowing. To do this, the soil is deeply loosened and enriched with a long-term fertilizer such as horse manure (€12.00 at Amazon). Nitrogen is an important element for its successful cultivation.

The seeds are sown thinly and only lightly pressed, as Good Heinrich is one of the so-called light germinators. Since it also grows perennially, it only needs to be re-sown in a different location every 5 to 6 years. The plants bloom from the second year onwards and self-sow easily if you do not remove the seed heads early.
Isolate young plants
As soon as tender plants have developed from the seeds, they must be separated. The optimal distance between two rows and between two plants is 50 cm, because Good Henry conquers a lot of space around him over time.

Just 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, you can pick some of the tender leaves and use them in the kitchen like spinach.
