The flowering period of crocuses varies depending on the species: small-flowered varieties bloom in late winter (February to March), large-flowered varieties in spring (March to May) and autumn crocuses in autumn (September to October).

Flowering time of the early blooming crocuses
The first flowers of the crocus appear as soon as the ground is no longer completely frozen. The small-flowered crocuses form firm spikes that can even penetrate snow cover.
The main flowering period of this type of crocus begins in February and lasts until March.
Large-flowered crocuses bloom a little later
Crocuses with larger flowers appear a little later. They are not quite as robust and only grow when the air temperatures rise slightly.
They enchant flower beds, lawns and meadows from March to May with a colorful sea of flowers.
Autumn is the flowering time of autumn crocuses
The autumn crocus blooms when many other flowers in the garden have already faded.
From September to October they really add color to the garden.
The right location is important
In order for the crocus flowers to develop properly, they need air and light, and preferably sun. Therefore, plant them in a location where the flowers are as sunny as possible. After flowering, the sun no longer plays a role. Then the spring flowers will also thrive in the shade.
Tips & Tricks
The cooler it stays, the longer the spring crocus flowers last. As soon as it gets warmer, the colorful splendor is unfortunately quickly over again.
