The flavonoids contained in horn trefoil in particular have a calming and antispasmodic effect, which is why the plant is preferred as a natural remedy for sleep disorders and nervousness. You can harvest the fresh flowers during the flowering period between June and August and either use them immediately for infusions or dry them. You need about a teaspoon of flowers per cup, which is poured with hot water. Let the tea steep for about 10 minutes.

Although horn trefoil contains potentially toxic hydrogen cyanide glycosides, these only occur to a small extent - therefore the plant will only become dangerous to humans and animals if used very excessively. The herb is only deadly for snails.
