Lenzenroses are not very demanding. The absolutely winter-hardy but unfortunately poisonous spring bloomers require little care. They only attach importance to a few conditions when it comes to location. This is how you find a suitable place to plant the Lenten rose.
How do I choose the right location for spring roses?
The ideal location for spring roses is partially shaded to sunny, with loose, non-calcareous soil without waterlogging. They thrive best under deciduous trees. Shady locations should be avoided, as flowers are less magnificent here and waterlogging can occur.
This is what the location for spring roses should look like
- Partly shaded to sunny
- loose soil
- not calcareous
- no waterlogging
An ideal place for the Lentenrose is under deciduous trees, as they provide little shade.
The Lentenrose does not thrive in very shady places. The flowers remain small and the perennial does not bloom for long. In addition, the risk of waterlogging is very high in purely shady locations.
In contrast to the Lenten rose, the Christmas rose prefers calcareous soils. Christmas roses tolerate shady locations much better than spring roses.
Tip
Lion roses do not thrive near or under conifers and rhododendrons. The soil there is too acidic.
