How can I create a mini pond myself?
You can easily create a mini pond by using a waterproof, stable container (e.g. B. choose a tin tub, wine barrel or terracotta pot), combine small marsh plants with different leaf structures and use plant baskets. Optionally, you can add decorative elements such as spit figures or stones.
Mini pond despite lack of space
Water fans who only have a limited area at home for gardening need not hang their heads. Even though very few balconies can be used to create a spacious swimming pond for the summer - any outdoor area, no matter how small, is sufficient for a mini pond! Even in Lilliput front gardens there is always a place for an effective watering hole. Of course, such a small facility cannot serve to achieve a real increase in biodiversity. But probably for more aesthetic grace and stay value.

Your individual mini pond: instructions for making it yourself
For your mini pond project, you must first decide whether you prefer the ground-level or standing container variant. The latter is of course only possible on earth. For better or worse, you have to resort to the container variant on the balcony. The advantage is that you can get a lot of effect by choosing the container. The pond can also be moved if necessary, for example for a cozy 3-man barbecue party.

Basically, any container that is waterproof and reasonably stable is suitable as an original container. In order to have more design freedom and to prevent unfavorable development of water biology, the opening should of course be as large as possible. Possible ideas would be, for example:

To keep the plant sections well separated from each other and to prevent uncontrolled spread, place the different plants in plant baskets in a base bed of gravel.
Deco
Beyond the natural plant decoration and the container character, you can get even more out of your mini pond with decorative elements. Moving elements such as a small, pump-operated spit figure or a wind turbine are particularly suitable here. If you like it natural, you can also experiment with a gnarled branch or decorative stones.
