Like many other garden plants, the sacred bamboo benefits from regular pruning. However, this plant is not, as one might expect, a “real” bamboo, i.e. a grass, but rather a barberry plant.
Is the sacred bamboo poisonous?
The Sacred Bamboo is a barberry plant and is slightly poisonous. Its bright red fruits, which hang on the bush from autumn to winter, should not be eaten. It is therefore less suitable for family gardens with small children.
Like other barberry plants, sacred bamboo is considered slightly poisonous. The very decorative, bright red fruits should not be eaten. They appear in autumn and remain on the bush well into winter. Sacred bamboo is not necessarily suitable for a family garden. In addition, the sky bamboo is only partially hardy. If the frost is too severe, its leaves freeze.
